The resolution of digital is way below that of film, and from what I
understand it is possible to have too good of a lens for digital...something
about it can in some cases create artifacts in the image.
Me, I'd be more than happy to buy a "lower" quality super wide developed
specifically for use with the digital body, in my case the D30...because of
the 1.6 crop of the image area of the digital sensor it effectively makes my
17mm angle of view into a 28. Kind of a drag...otoh it makes my 70-200 2.8L
into a 112-320 2.8..pretty sweet!!
