FWIW, in addition to my Rebel, I own a point and shoot (non-Canon) digital
camera. I recently bought a 2x original manufacturer teleconverter for it
for less than $50 US. Admittedly, optical quality isn't the greatest even
without the TC on this camera, but there is a noticeable degradation with
the TC, probably due to the low-quality glass. The manufacturer also offers
a 0.7 wide angle converter for a relatively low price, too, but I imagine
the optical quality also isn't great. Oh yeah... since this is a P&S
camera, the converters screw onto the *front* of the lens.
