Thanks for this interesting comparison Edward. It is contrary to the
comparison fowarded only a week or so ago that showed the IS version being
softer - something I was very surprised to see. I am a little surprised also
by the difference shown in your comparison at f2.8 - considering the known
high quality of the original lens. Not that I'm questioning your
methodology, just thinking out loud. I like the idea of the new lens so am
keen to see good reports on it.
On your site you noted an intermittent fault while using the lens on your
1v. This is the exact same error and display that myself and two others have
previously reported while using the 1v. I would suspect the body and not the
lens.
