You sound like you were a salesman for IBM imposing FUD,
or what was Fear, Uncertainity, and Doubt. Always implying
that 3rd party products may not operate. I know the Tamron
works with Canon's Long glass on the 1V, EOS-3 and others.
If Canon changed the contacts on the 1D body then their own
TCs would not operate either so I am comfortable with the
Tamron.
As to resale, I do not buy thiings based on the fact that I
may sell them. I buy them to use them.
Your last question is definitely that of an amateur. When
people ask what I am using I say Canon with a Tamron
converter. Or if I am using a Sigma lens, I say Canon with
Sigma lens. People that ask these questions are usually
novices who are more impressed by equipment than photos.
Chances are they have a rebel and will say something like,
"Wow! I have a Canon Rebel but my lenses are not as large."
