I have that Sigma lens and I recommend it highly. I no longer have the EOS 3 I originally used it with, I now have only a 1V. However, I still use that lens several times a year (I'm not a pro) and IMHO it's an excellent value for the money. I've had no mechanical/electronic problems with it, either with the 3 or the 1V, and the optical quality is excellent. I've used it to shoot several graduation ceremonies, for which it's the perfect lens, among other things. I'm sure that the Canon L is better in some lab-bench sense, but if all you're interested in is taking high-contrast sharp images, I think the Sigma is worthy of very serious consideration. I would contrive to shoot a roll with each of those lenses and see what you think.
Now if you want IS, you of course don't have an alternative to Canon's 70-200IS. --Ken S. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Alex Zabrovsky Sent: Tuesday, October 01, 2002 11:34 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: EOS Sigma 70-200/2.8 EX HSM Hi. Would be glad to hear user's opinions about Sigma 70-200/2.8 EX HSM to be used on EOS 3 as cheaper alternative of 70-200/2.8L USM. (until the Canon lens can be found used to right price) Regards, Alex Z * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
