Hmm....you make it sound as if neither Canon nor other brands use the
high-end/optical stabilisers in their videocamera's....they *do*.
Both non-exchangeable-lens models, exchangeable-lens models, and of
course including EOS-IS lenses on the high-end Canon videocamera's by
means of an (sadly teleconverting-) adapter.
OTOH, the earlier mentioned argument of dedicated lenses still
applies to this Minolta A1 digicam too....it's zoom, but non-
exchangeable....so the range of parameters is under control (which
indeed might have become a problem when you can mount just any lens;
although it also should only be related to focal length (and that
type of data is already part of the lens/camera communication (see
EXIF-data on EOS digi's)).
Btw, the argument of it being hard to move the (analog?) filmplane:
that's what Contax did in their AX years ago, for AF....;))
Btw2: IS-in-lens means moving a lens-element by changing angles, IS-
in-camera means linear movement of the sensor (X/Y-axis; in contrast
to Z-axis with the Contax AX....;))
Heck, why not combine all 3 axis....:))))
