Well, after trying out the Tokina 28-70, I did some heavy thinking and decided the lens I really wanted was the Canon EF 28-135 IS. Longer zoom range and IS should make this a useful lens for me.
I sold my 85/1.8 and my 50/1.4 is up for auction this week. What I got for the 85 almost paid for the price of the good used 28-135 - also from auction. The primes are lovely lenses, no doubt about it. But I have not really used them much. I just love and need a zoom and I believe that for my style the IS will be great. Anyway, it's fun to play with different lenses. I bought the 85 and 50 used on auction and they should fetch very close to what I paid. I'm looking forward now to my 'new' lens, yay! I'll be selling the Tokina as well. Then I'm thinking about selling my EF20-35 USM and getting something like the Sigma 12-24 for wide angle stuff. I might as well have 3 lenses that do everything I want, and cover a complete range. I found the Tokina to be too heavy for the range it covers. Plus the controls are too funky for me and although it's very sharp below 70mm, at the long end it's very fuzzy, even stopped down a bit. And I crave more IS lenses :-) -- Jim Davis, Nature Photography http://jimdavis.oberro.com/ Standard Poodles for fun BMW motorcycle for pleasure * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
