Nope, 1D Mk II has it too, I'm sure 1Ds Mk II will also have this, so even
the 1D may already have it.

Don't think so, the images are always correctly displayed in either portrait
or landscape orientation on the back LCD on the 1D Mk II so this information
must have been kept in the EXIF info, but I'm not sure about earlier
generation of the EOS DSLRs since I've never used any until the 1D Mk II,
