Adobe Pshop elements 3 shows this in the exif data:
Orientation: Rotate -90
And it is smart enough to show the picture in the correct orientation using that. The manual for the 20D does say that the orientation sensor isn't reliable for pointing up or down. It will do + or - 90 - I haven't tried 180 :-)
Aha, nice. And the 20D is the first EOS body to have this feature?
And what about the competition, anyone know?
Exclusive EOS-feature that hardly anyone knew of thusfar?....:))
Not a big secret for 20D users - you can turn it on or off in the menus (Auto-Rotate), although I can't imagine why you'd ever turn it off. The camera uses it when it displays images in playback on the LCD as well, although if it was really smart, it would use the sensor during playback to determine the camera orientation then too and compensate accordingly instead of assuming the camera isn't rotated during playback.
