I think you are mistaken (but I might be wrong).

When you copy then delete you have a lot of time to make sure the copied files are valid before you delete them (I always open them all in iView Media Pro). Only after I know they are good do I reformat the card. In fact, I don't reformat the card until I need it again (which might be a few days later), giving me extra insurance against problems.

With the move your hard drive could go bad just as the delete on completion finishes. Unlikely, but possible. If that happened your files would be gone and you'd have to rely on some sort of file rescue software to resurrect them on the flash memory card.

I believe that my method is significantly safer than a move.
