I really don't know how much the paint weighed. When we stripped my plane I collected all the paint in a 5 gallon bucket with the intention of weighing it, but never did. I'd guess that it was around 20 lbs., though.

That’s a great answer and great info.
If I had a 415-C or CD, I’d consider stripping the paint and going shiny to save the weight. Could it really be 28-40 lb. for the fuselage, wing roots and tail?
