Stephen::

My Alon is IFR although not currently certified, I would recommend
redundancy as Greg does. I am not sure of your equipment and its
configuration. I recommend 2 different electronic means of arriving at
your
destination, whether it be GPS or VOR with at least a Localizer to shoot a

localizer approach. I think the GPS methodology is good, however I do not

like Garmins poor displays on the 300 model, it is a giant step backwards,

and Garmin has not yet come up with a short (7 inch) GPS with a good
display
on it as yet. Most of the equipment you will come across is 11 inches
deep
and in an Alon you can only get two units 6 1/4 inches wide on the right
side of the panel to go under the tank. Everything else must be 7 inches
deep or less to go between the panel and the tank. I have a Narco Mark 12

plug in replacement for a Cessna AR unit, and a Narco transponder on the
bottom of the two stacks. As for a Marker beacon, and an intercom
connection, check out the offerings of RST engineering in Grass Valley, CA

This may give you a few more ideas.
