HI Stan: I have not spent the $150 to obtain the Bendix repair manual, so I do not have the specifics on how to set the "E"-gap. However, I do know that you are supposed to use a light and timing indicator to do so. If someone told you how to do it before, that is the person you need to contact. I have attached a couple pages from a book on magneto ignition systems to try to describe why proper setting of the "E"-gap is so important.
