Anybody planning a weekend trip that takes you within 30 miles of Crawford, Texas, needs to be aware of the following. They mean business and will not hesitate to put an F-16 on your tail and escort you to the nearest airport, usually our local strip (05F in Gatesville, Texas). We get about five escorted landings here every time the Pres. visits his ranch.
Yeah, and I bet they're real credible threats, too. Your tax dollars at
work, seeking out weapons of mass destruction.
Pretty amazing. The guy's brave enough to send kids over to Iraq but
afraid to have an Ercoupe within 30nm of him. Some tough dude.
'Go on about your lives, work, travel, etc.' he says. Then he erects
a 30nm iron umbrella over his own head. Big, brave, man.
I bet Harry Truman wouldn't have let his bodyguards shut down
(uncompensated) most aviation businesses for 2800 square miles
around his and his Daddy's house on a regular basis, and
around the rest of this 'free' country on an irregular basis.
Problem is, the 'me' society has now got itself elected President and
figures that his vacations and visits are more important than people's
lives and livelihoods.
If I lived around Crawford, I'd probably be about as thrilled as the Dixie
Chicks. There goes the neighborhood...
