I've had 415-D 3988H for a year now, and have put about 90 hours on her (it)? It had the M1 from previous owners and I used it 100% of the time without a problem, realizing what it is capable of doing and the slower refresh time. I finally saved enough $ to by the Garmen 196 and there's no comparison, as I'm sure everyone would agree. I have had a couple blank screens inflight with the 196 and have no idea why, so I still use the M1 as an active backup, even for local flights. The bearing, track and distance are right on compared to the 196. It makes for a good backup, but I don't think I would go that direction, given some of the gps options avaialble today.
