Hi Folks,

I'm a bit late in chiming in on the plane names, but I
have been quite ill with a nasty flu. Hope y'all don't
get it.

Anyway, if I did have a coupe, I would name it Amazing
Grace. To me, the name have several levels of meaning.

-One definition of grace is "ease and suppleness of
movement or bearing" which certainly fits an Ercoupe.
Another meaning, "unmerited divine assistance given
humans for their regeneration" could really come in
handy with the flying conditions we often have in my
area: lots of fog, wind, mountains, and few places to
land. :-)

-I always liked the song, Amazing Grace. I think it
has universal appeal, beyond denomination or even 1
religion. The song has alway had special personal
meaning and I even asked people to join me in singing
it at my Mom's memorial service.

-A tribute to Grace Murray Hopper, a most astonishing
woman: mathematician, US Navy officer, one of the
original computer geeks, and to me geek is a
compliment. What a brain! In case you're interested,
here's one link:

MS Hopper ended up a rear admiral in the Navy and has
USN ship named after her. Of course, the ship's
nickname is Amazing Grace.

I know there are a few of you guys out there that got
to hear her speak when you were in the service.

I would love to tell people why I named my (so far
imaginary) coupe the way I did. I would especially
like talking about Grace Murray Hopper as I love to
bust the myth that one has to be 14 and male to be any
good with computers!

Best wishes to all,

Spook
