Hey Glen: Yes, there are many C-85's that end up with an O-200 crankshaft at overhaul. You are correct that the C-85 crankshafts are difficult and expensive to find because they are no longer available new. However, the O-200 crankshaft also requires the O-200 connecting rods and pistons. The cylinders are the same, just the valves/springs are different. So if you have a C-85 with an O-200 crankshaft, you end up with the same displacement as the O-200 and, as I understand it, the horsepower is up over 90 but it is still a C-85. I believe that you can obtain the O-200 crankshaft STC from more than one place, but I do not know any more than that.
There is an O-200 STC available from Skyport. I believe it requires the airplane be converted to a D model or later.
(Are you still planning to bring the motorcycle down next week?)
