RLYFLYIN

Hi Syd, Darick...

It's not yet published, but Erco modified over a hundred 415-C models still in dealer hands to full 415-CD specification, including the control panel quadrants, etc. before sale to private owners. I know (photocopies of related Erco correspondance, will later publish) the serial numbers of these airframes. None was below 3000, though.

I jump in with this only because an owner of one of those factory CD Models would be utterly confused by the (correct) statement that all serials to 4424 were (originally) manufactured as 415-C Models. From the standpoint of airframes moving into private hands, there were over a hundred less 415-Cs and that many more 415-CD Models originally "out there". The fuselage of one was in Univair's "back yard" in '88, and I took a picture of the Manufacturer's plate because what it said did not make any sense. Later I understood.

I doubt the hole described (below the oil temp gauge) is factory original.

Regards,

William R. Bayne

Darick,
You're absolutely right.  If you look in the Ercoupe Service Manual on page 51 or in the Ercoupe Parts Catalog on page 34 you will see how your instrument panel came from the factory.  It was like this up to Serial No. 4423.  Page 36 in the parts catalog shows the throttle quadrant, from Serial No. 4424 and up.  Someone "modernized" your instrument panel.

To All,
My 1946 415c, S/N 1462, has a throttle quadrant control on the instrument panel which I'm questioning as the original design or if it was added from a later model?  There is an obvious place for mixture control, but it is located below the temp. gage on the left side of the left control yoke.   Does anyone know?
Thanks
Darick
