You should be able to get a perfectly acceptable photo for e-mail purposes down under 64K or so. Even a 1200x1600 pixel jpg file shouldn't go more than about 350K. If you open your file with just about any program you should be able to resize it.640x400 is more than adequate for e-mail purposes.

Microsoft photo editor can do it. If you don't have that, there is a very good image tool available free called "Irfanview". Check out www.irfanview.com

Jpeg files are already compressed, so a program like zip will usually actually make the file bigger rather than smaller. It does, however, allow you to combine multiple files into a single attachment
