Scott,
There seems to be a disconnect between those two statements.
As for LSA that can do what the Coupe does and be in the
same price range, well, that’s difficult.
I’m building a Challenger II Long Wing and it’s
a fun flyer. However I register it, I’ll have the repairman
certificate and will be able to do the annual condition inspection
signoff. On any experimental, anyone can do the maintenance.
Perhaps you’d like the Sport version of the Challenger
which might soon come on the market – price unknown but probably in the
$30k+ price range. That version is based on the “clip wing special”
and could cruise at 75-85. Here’s the company’s home page
which has a picture of the Sport version. See the Challenger II clip wing
special on the next page for more details of a similar aircraft.

Maybe closer to your needs would be the Titan:
But you already have a good plane. If you don’t
need an LSA so you can drop down to Sport Pilot status, I think it’ll be
cheaper for you to stay with your Coupe.
I wouldn’t hold my breath on the FAA accepting AOPA’s
petition which asks that Rec pilots be allowed to fly with the self-certifying/driver’s
license medical (and asks that pilots with denied medicals be allowed to fly with a
permission form from their regular doctor). If it happens at all, it won’t
be fast.
Where do you live? Maybe a list member can point you
to a reliable mechanic.
Good luck,
