Everything went wrong with my checkride.
First I was asked what a wind shear is. I always read and heard about it, but as English is my second language, I had no explanation (nor a clear picture) of a wind shear. Our simulated emergency was terrible. I forgot to communicate the situation and I also had a hard time to listen to traffic plus examiner and fly the plane as desired. Just a matter of coordination.

When finally arrived at our home base, he asked me to do a spot landing  and he told  me where when I was at final. I knew how to land at the numbers, but on the second taxi way?
I stalled the planes tail right into that spot. plang!.
Then the examiner took the controls, went into the pattern again and showed me how to land that damn thing at any given spot.
I was embarrassed, and realized I did not pass. He took the controls!, He took the controls! That's all I was able to think.

Surprisingly he let me pass. I asked why, considering my not so flawless performance. He replied that the checkride is supposed to show that one is in control of the plane. I guess I could show that.

I might add that this was 1999 and nowadays the navigation issue and the whereabouts' awareness will be an important part of being in control of the plane. Not knowing that you steered into Mexico's airspace is a show stopper, considering the embarrassing performance of the 2 pilots a while ago that flew right toward the white house.

No worries, you'll nail it next time.

When I took my checkride I watched the person before me fail before he ever left the ground. He did a prefilght and forgot to untie the tail. The examiner let him start the plane and when it wouldnt move he shut it down and sent him home.

Scott, you know what you need to work on. In 1969, I took my checkride in a 415G. That is when you
could be licensed without a restriction put on it. I forgot to fasten my seatbelt, and did not notice it
till halfway through the ride. I had a very understanding and "lenient" checkride person and he let it by.
It was a very windy day and he asked me if I had ever flown in that much wind.......I think he was as nervous
about flying with me as I was about doing everything right.  You will pass next time.
Good luck and remember to buckle up!!!!
