Some of you may know that I use my Coupe to teach people with disabilities
to fly. I have a new student, Jessica Cox. Please take a look at her
website to learn more about Jessica www.rightfooted.com. Jessica has decided
to work toward her Sport Pilot License instead of a Private Pilots License to
avoid the long delay and red-tape required for a disabled person to get a
third class medical. She has a current Arizona drivers license. The
problem is this...my Ercoupe is a "D" model. She needs a "C" or "CD" for
her solo and FAA practical test. She will be doing all her training in my
Ercoupe but needs someone who will volunteer to let her use their "C" or "CD"
for the solo work and practical test.
Once we find a "C" or "CD", the next issue will be insurance. Most
underwriters will not cover a student pilot under the "normal" policy. The
offer we are able to make is as follows:
If you are willing to let Jessica use your Coupe for solo/practical test
and your insurance policy will not cover a student pilot, we will pay the
additional premium on the policy for her to be covered.
Additionally, we will pay all operating expenses for the Ercoupe she gets to
use.
Ideally, the "C" or "CD" we get to use will be in Florida but if a Florida
Coupe does not surface, we might be able to come to another state for the solo
and practical test.
Jessica has flown with me and handles the Coupe very well, just using her
feet. She uses one foot for the yoke and the other for the throttle and
other controls. No additional devices need to be added for her to fly a
Coupe. She also has about 6 hours in a Cessna 152.
CBS Evening New did a 6 minute segment on the Ercoupe and my students a few
