Do it! I've flown from California to Oshkosh, and from Texas to California. It's amazing how fast one learns doing long (overnight) cross-country trips. Would Fall be better? Not just for the Fall leaf colors. I'm thinking of doing a true cross-country flight, coast-to-coast, but will only consider the Fall to do it. Having said that, the trips above were in the Summer and Spring, and no weather problems, IF you're willing to wait out bad weather. And that you must be: willing to wait. VFR flight in our little airplanes demands reasonably good weather and a careful weather check before each takeoff. Bring: - a good GPS that you know how to use, - airport guide book (I like Flight Guide http://www.flightguide.com/), - maybe tiedown anchors--these are great: http://www.theclaw.com/C100.html, - a six-pack of water bottles and some energy bars, - TravelJohn bags (e.g. http://tinyurl.com/whrsc), - a credit card with a high limit, - good humor and flexibility. ============================================================================== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm
