Hi all. I've just joined this group, thought I'd say hi. I'm here primarily for research and networking right now. I've been flying for nearly 10 years, ASEL VFR only with less than 400 hrs mostly split between a Skyhawk and Archer which belong to the flying club based out of IPT (Williamsport, PA). I'm currently working on my IR even though I fly primary as a hobby but am quite addicted to it. A few months ago, I decided to start planning for my upcoming mid-life crisis. During the analysis and research, I've decided I want to buy a plane. The flying club I'm in is a good club, prices are very reasonable and availability is typically good. I do not plan to leave the club, or at least for the mission of this particular plane, I will stay in the club and have access to faster 4-place planes when needed. Anyway, I've concluded I want an Ercoupe 415. I've researched this wonderful little bird, I'm really excited about it. If nothing else, to own such a piece of aviation history. I have not ever seen an Ercoupe in person (that I know of anyway) so all my judgment is based on reading and pictures. First and foremost on my list of unanswered questions ... will I fit in the plane? I'm 6'5" and relatively thin. I normally have headroom problems in other planes and cars, we had to cut an inch off the Archer Pilot seat for me to just barely fit with a headset on. I've read and talked with people who have had varying answers about the 415 ... some say I will, some say I won't, some say there's a conversion available for the seats. The latter answer seems to be the correct answer as I recently looked at an ad for an Ercoupe with a seat mod for tall people. So far then, here is my shopping list for a 415, in order of preference: O-200, rudder peddles removed, electric system, dash conversion for instrumentation, seat mod. The seat mod is last because I figure if I find a 415 with an O-200, I can mod the seats myself. ============================================================================== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm
