Greyson,

I was comfortable flying my Coupe from 1800 foot runway that had no
obstructions at either end.

I'd say I was usually 50' high at the end of the runway with my climb prop,
but not always.

Usually isn't good enough when it comes to trees.

If the field is the prime driver in your airplane choice, you might look at
these:

Piper Colt for two places certificated - climbs like a fiend

Piper Tri-Pacer for (ostensibly) 4-place

One of the former ultralight trainers, now mostly Experimental Amateur Built
LSA, for example:
        QCU Challenger
        CGS Hawk

I think those first two aircraft might handle 1500' with trees if you are
careful about density altitude and gross weight. Consult experts in the
Short Wing Piper club on this.

The QCU Challenger and CGS Hawk are more commonly flown from short fields.
Again, consult experts. Both have forums on Yahoo.

If you can lengthen the runway and get rid of the obstacles, I'd say my
Coupe was comfortable with the 1800' useable, with no obstructions and a
climb prop. And the Coupe is way more fun to fly than a Tri-Pacer or Colt.
The Challenger and Hawk seem to be similar in fun factor to the Coupe, but
you've got to build them from the kit for 300-500 hours.

Best wishes.
