Howdy,

I wonder if you folks have noticed a willingness or
lack thereof among the folks in your geographic area,
to participate and volunteer in ANY aviation event or
club.

I ask because I have noticed such a lack of interest
and enthusiasm among pilots and aviation fans in my
county, yet the attitude of the folks one county south
is completely different. Also, our neighboring state
to the north, Oregon, seems to be much more involved
in aviation events and clubs of all sorts.

I know part of it has to do with weather, but although
the northern coast of CA has a bad reputation for fog,
there are many, clear, beautiful flying days. I have
been amazed how few other people I have seen flying on
these great days. My partner and I certainly enjoy
having the sky to ourselves, but it's not so wonderful
for GA.

I'd like to hear what anyone has to say on this
matter.

Spook

Thank you for the kind words, Spook. I'm sure Joey, the Region 3
Director, would appreciate them.
Now for you other guys. She's talking about the Oregon Ercoupe
Erforce. This outfit has a monthly newsletter (emailed or posted)
that is there Every Month. There is also a Monthly Meeting on the
Last Sunday - depend on it. Now, usually this time of the year they
stick close in the Mid-Willamette Valley (Albany/Independence/Salem),
but they do venture out (Astoria/Bend/Florance/Madras/Roseberg). The
deal is that no one meeting may be a barn burner, but every one knows
that sooner or later there will be a meeting near them. Not Rocket
Science - just consistency. Try it sometime.
