I, too am an attorney and it's frustrating when I hear the stereotypical lay
perception of lawyers. I hope the original post was tounge-in-cheek. Most of
us are hard working, honest and do our very best to pursue our client's
interests involving genuine legal problems. Are there bad lawyers? Yes, just
as there are bad doctors, plumbers, accountants and (possibly) even pilots.
The extremely small percentage of outrageous lawsuits that the media loves to
point to are the exception to the rule but all lawyers get painted with the
same brush.

As to your compilation of an index, I would urge you to contact an attorney who
practices in patent or copyright law for an opinion, but I'm guessing you are
in the same class of publications that are out there that serve as references
and simply point to source information without infringing on the source
documents. Personally, I think your effort to compile a reference list is
valuable and worth copyrighting as long as you aren't printing source
information that somone else wrote and calling it your own, or printing it
without the consent of the original author.  When you get it done, let us know;
I'll buy a copy.

By the way, I would never sue a fellow couper (unless, of course, you made fun
of my airplane) :-)
