I think if the fuel is down a bit in the header (fuselage) tank and you fuel it 
first, even if you overfill it, the excess fuel in the header tank will drain 
down to the wing tanks fast enough for you to always be able then to top off 
the wing tanks without a problem.

Thanks Bart. Your suggestion squares well with what I had read earlier. I guess 
the trick is knowing when to stop pumping fuel into the middle tank before you 
start fueling the wing tanks. As I understand this if you keep pumping into the 
main it will simply overflow into the wing tanks anyway. So a gallon or so in 
them main, then start fueling the wing tanks and leave an inch of space between 
the fuel and the cap. At least that's kinda what I'm getting out of this long
