Hello, I am new to ethereal and I have been trying to compile 0.9.7. A simple ./configure completes without problems - except that I get "Use zlib library : no" when I do in fact have zlib.
I have current gtk and glib libraries. Make ends in tears : T6 -D_U_="__attribute__((unused))" -Wall -W -g -O2 -I.. -I../wiretap -I/usr/local/include -I/usr/include/gtk-1.2 -I/usr/include/glib-1.2 -I/usr/lib/glib/include -I/usr/X11R6/include -c `test -f 'main.c' || echo './'`main.c main.c: In function `main': main.c:1445: warning: implicit declaration of function `getopt' main.c:1691: `optind' undeclared (first use in this function) main.c:1691: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once main.c:1691: for each function it appears in.) make[2]: *** [main.o] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/ethereal-0.9.7/gtk' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/ethereal-0.9.7' make: *** [all] Error 2 I get the same output if I use --enable-gtk2 Eventually I downloaded 0.9.6. ./configure finds zlib and compilation is a breeze producing a perfectly good executable. I have looked at the past three months archives here and on dev, but I don't think that this problem has affected anyone else. I would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks, Geoff __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Everything you'll ever need on one web page from News and Sport to Email and Music Charts http://uk.my.yahoo.com
