Here is a copy of "Name discussion" mail I sent to garma-developers
last week… it includes other name proposals, may be they could inspire
somebody…
We need to take decision on the name soon I think in order to organize
web site, development and releases a bit better.
Warning for Banlu ! This thread needs to stay jokes clean :-D
At least we have a codename now : Paris-Resonance, we just need some
luck to have our banner everywhere in Jakarta, Paris, Mexico etc.… ;-)

hmm, I have few conditions for the new project name ;-)
I think it must be a "normal" name, which means :
- not an acronym
- not a computer addict joke
- not be composed with an abbreviation like "K" in "KDesktop"
A normal name would something like "Garma" or "Étoilé" but formulated
in "Everyday English"
May be we could allow some "artistic" letter cut like "Objectiv" over
"Objective" :-)
I think the name should translate one or two user experience ideas we
would like to be focused on : workflow fluidity, rich interaction
model, non intrusive nature, components based, creative work oriented.
We should probably avoid to refer about "objects" nature, which should
be reserved to the developer point of view on the system in my
opinion.
Here are my ideas which are like probably a bit hermetic like my brain
activity :-D

We could use basic one word names like :
- Fiction
- Furtiv
- Furtive
- Fictiv (Fiction idea but worded differently)
- Fictive
- Inverted (because we think different ;-)
- Resonance (rich interaction model idea)
or uses variations with an extra word like :
- FictionFly (Fast creation oriented environment)
- FictionInKitchen
- FictiveFly
- FictiveDog (Animal spy spirit idea, a bit totemic or like a Japanese
shortstory)
- FictiveWork (the work process is so smooth that your work looks
invisible, that's the idea here :-)
- FictiveDesk (the work context is so clean that it seems you don't
work when you are working like a crazy lawyer, that's the idea here
:-)
- FurtivLink (everything is self-explaining or the document and
components nature doesn't invade user environment)
- FurtivMilk (it looks clean and pleasant like a discrete milk glass
;-)
- FurtivVoice (that's probably God voice oriented user experience he
;-)
- FurtivTwist
I could add variants here : Transitiv or Transitive… hmm I don't know
;-)
My own preferences would probably go in the previous list to words
like Fiction or Furtive or Furtiv
Two other extra choices I like (but with two words) :
- FluxFiction (Flux conveys the fluid user experience idea and Fiction
the creative orientation)
- FictionFloor
