Hey all- I'm just joining the list and wanted to introduce myself and see who's out there. I've been in the SILC server the last couple of days and haven't seen anyone, so I just wanted to get a feel for who's active out there.
For a little about myself; My name is Ryan Harter. I'm a mobile developer (mostly Android, lots of iPhone and as little blackberry as I can) for a services company near Chicago, Il. I'm a friend and colleague of Greg Casemento of GNUStep and, after talking with him and checking out the projects, have taken an interest in Etoile. I started developing for the Mac in 2004 and have lots of experience in Linux as well. For a while I used Gentoo, but found I didn't want to spend as much time maintaining my system so I switched to Ubuntu. I've been working on setting up a Gentoo dev system with GNUStep and Etoile, and it's taken quite a bit of messing. I still don't have it set up yet, the compile and install process seems to be quite a task. I chose Gentoo because I can start with a clean system without Gnome, or any of that heavyweight stuff that comes with Ubuntu. Perhaps this is the wrong approach? I'm looking forward to digging into the project and would appreciate any insights any of you might have to offer.
