Right, and this works great - EXCEPT my windowmanager... it starts up Etoile and everything, but my WM does not start at all. This means I can't move windows etc.

So how does one SET the windowmanager you want to use? I'm guessing this is probably the problem. Also, what WM are you using?

So I have installed Etoile... question tho... I am using the etoile-system session starter... and it does not start any windowmanager... how do I set the windowmanager for it?

after fiddling around with limited success, the following works somewhat for me:

On current etoile svn, there is a etoile.desktop file (in Services/ Private/System), when you copy this to /usr/share/xsessions, a session manager like gdm or kdm and possibly others, too, will offer you "etoile" as a session type. I now have to go "init 5" instead of "startx", but when I do so and select etoile, it gives me pretty much everything I'd expect.

Also, in etoiles' svn main directory, there is now a setup.sh which should do this and a couple of other things for you. In fact, I have used that one.

Whether this works or not probably also depends on your distribution, so your mileage may vary...

HTH,
Andreas
