I always like FreeBSD. So this one would be a good choice.
Unfortunately, I don't have a machine to run FreeBSD yet.
Looks quite interesting, according to their blog they plan to
integrate Étoilé along GNUstep.

NeXTbuntu (http://nextbuntu.wordpress.com/) has probably similiar
goal.
But the approach is some-how too radical to me.
I haven't take a look at this one yet.
