Because you state "F10, Expose will tile all windows belonging to the
focus'd application" and not "F10, Expose will tile all windows
belonging to an application", my concern still remains. What I really
miss is the possibility to mouse over docked application icons inside
Expose mode in order Expose tiles all windows related to each
application I move mouse over. That's not possible because Dock gets
hidden when Expose is activated.

Aaah, I see.

Yesterday I found a partial solution, I just use command + tab to
trigger application switcher inside Expose mode, then you can click
select which application you want to "expose" windows. You can even
use the mouse to select the application. However I still doesn't like
the fact the feature isn't obvious at all and specially that you
cannot just mouve over the application switcher to "expose" windows
of another application, it's mandatory to click the application icon.
Also you have to "expose" windows of the focused application first.

Let's assume you have a couple of applications running, but all but
one minimized to the Dock. Now if you press F10 (or F9 for that
matter) you can use just Tab to toggle through all (running)
applications.
