If you're using the ObjectiveC2 framework with GNUstep, then you are using the old GCC runtime, plus the Objective-C compatibility layer. I've just looked at the code, and it seems correct - can you try with libobjc2 and see if you have the same error? I haven't used the GCC runtime for quite a long time.
