Here it is, the ultimate way to trade Grateful Dead SHNs... As many of you know, I have been working on a simple way for all of us to have access to any Grateful Dead show we want. This project began late in October of last year. After a few false starts, everything is now ready to go. The only thing that's missing is you.
Each member of this group MUST have an FTP server. It's preferable that you have at least a cable modem or DSL but I'm not going to shut out dial-up users. The speed of your connection will be public knowledge so people who don't want to deal with downloading from a 56k pipe don't have to. The way this works: 1. Please sign up for our online community at http://communities.msn.com/ElevenArmsofIvy/ 2. Email your server login info and connection speed to [EMAIL PROTECTED] This will be verified before you are accepted as a member of the community. I will not download anything without your permission. If you have a good connection but no server, email me... there is free FTP server software available! 3. Each person will host at least one unique Grateful Dead show. The community page will list shows by date along with connection info for the server it's hosted on. You will need to provide one slot with 24x7 access as long as you are a member of this group. Login information from the community should not be made public. The idea is that members should always be able to get into at least one server. 4. This is not an elitist group. Once we have enough people to host every Dead show, the community will be a closed membership. However, arrangements will be made to "seed" shows to anyone wishing to copy our community model. This music will be spread to all who want to hear it. 5. When your membership is approved, you will be given a list of the shows we currently have available. This will include my personal list. I have 200+ shows to contribute. The show(s) you offer to host must not be on this list. I will match the first 200+ shows served up with one from my list. These will be given to people with FTP space who have no content available. I will B&P in blocks of 5 shows. These will be hosted on one server and spread to other servers over the Internet. I don't have enough bandwidth to quickly seed over 200 shows. Once we have this running successfully, Jerry shows will be added next. Let the trading begin!
