If anyone who has decent processing power also has a next-gen graphics
card, say, like the GeForce or other fast texture-mapping gaming cards,
please check out Iris Performer, which SGI has made open
for their most recent (Linux) version...
it was demo'd at that SGI conference last week in Portland,
and it's rather high-endian and sweet.
It is "merely" a set of libraries for rendering,
simluation, and visualization, for which there exist a number of demos,
like hang-gliding with tux...

looked like a VERY nice "app", and a great way to show off high-end
systems without reverting to "gaming", which most everyones seen.
