Michael Papadopolis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> has contacted me about KBOO radio's
plans to upgrade their computer systems.

KBOO is a non-profit radio station out of Portland with rebroadcasters in
Corvallis and probably elsewhere in Oregon. (I don't know for sure.)
I suppose you might consider them to be a competitor to Oregon Public
Broadcasting's radio. Like OPB they depend on a combination of
subscribers and public funding. However, their programming is quite
different than OPB.

KBOO is non-political (they are a tax exempt corporation); but they seem
rather anti big business. That makes the current proposal to upgrade
their computer systems to an all MicroSoft system a bit strange.

Michael is trying to put together an alternative proposal which would
allow more diversity in OS choice. In particular, he thinks OpenSource
software could and should play a major role in KBOO's plans. He needs
help with this. If interested contact him by email and he can fill you in
on the details. Once again, the contact is: MichaelP <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

This could be an interesting project. Among other things, KBOO wants
to do more internet broadcasting. So, here is a chance to volunteer for
something pretty neat.

                                          Sincerely,
                                          David Mandel
