from their website it sounds like standard 802.11(a|g) gear, so range not
tremendous, but the neat thing is they can serve as ad-hoc routers for a
multiply connected network.

They have isos, and source releases, you don't have to get the hardware,
you should theoretically be able to repurpose any old pc with a wireless
NIC into being an AP, the h/w is nice, but not strictly necessary.
