http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/ The two big images on the front page explain in a nutshell why it's so great. Basically, you start a download, and other people start too. Since you already have part of the file, they start getting part from you and part from the server. Other people join in, and the load begins to be taken off the server and placed onto the clients. As long as the client remains open on a particular file, you will be available as a source for that file. You end up downloading as fast as possible given the current network conditions, without killing the server to get it. Especially useful for large files such as anime fansubs and Linux ISOs.. =) - -- Joseph Carter <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Bush is a war criminal! <Paladin_> actually <Paladin_> I still have a 5-1/4" drive on this machine <arioch> yeah <arioch> you freak -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) Comment: 1024D/20F62261F1857A3E79FC44F98FF7D7A3DCF9DAB3 iEYEARECAAYFAj6BUJ8ACgkQj/fXo9z52rOJnACfTHZgQkAt26BCUHC16RVj4ClS KvsAnjygsV88n30WNBjJwDF9HSuQO/Rv =jFH3 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Eug-LUG mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mailman.efn.org/cgi-bin/listinfo/eug-lug
