For a low-cost/no-cost non-profit project: 1. Athlon Thunderbird 1.0 to 1.2GHz (Athlon "B") (Socket A; 100FSB).
(Used or new OK. Prefer a local source. I've contacted PC Parlor, PC Training Center and other local shops with no luck on this CPU). 2. 128MB to 256MB PC-100 or PC-133 SDRAM DIMM's 3. Promise 2300 (or similar) IDE controller -- For another project: 1. Athlon 2500+ (Barton/166FSB/512K L2). Prefer new Retail/Boxed CPU w/ active cooler fan & heatsink and 3 yr warranty (but will consider OEM/1 yr warr.) 2. ATX Socket A (Skt 462) System Board supporting above CPU. (e.g. MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, Abit, or ?). Northbridge: Via KT400A chipset or better (e.g. KT600 or nForce Ultra400). AGP 8x support req'd. Southbridge: VT 8237 or better (e.g. MCP, MCP-T). Prefer 6 PCI, integrated 6 ch. audio, modem, 10/100 NIC, ATA133, and Fast USB 2. Integrated video, IEEE 1394 and Gigabit LAN desirable but not required. SATA, RAID, AGP Pro or multi-format memory card reader interface not required. Adjustable active Northbridge cooler (w/ integrated fan regulator) and three-phase voltage regulator desirable. But will consider passive Northbridge cooler and the two-phase voltage regulator. 3. 256MB or 512MB DDR 333 DIMM compatible with above systemboard (CL2 preferred but will consider CL2.5). Will consider DDR400 if compatible with above system board/CPU combo. Prefer local sources on all above. Thank you for any leads.
