Perhaps if you really want to learn, you should install an OS that cares about documentation, where you will also find select(2), poll(2), wait(2), wait4(2) etc ...

Maybe you should have. All of those exist on Linux as well, as part of the "Linux Programmer's Manual" that's a standard part of the man page collection in most distros. Actually /used/ a Linux distro lately? Might save you some embarrasment.
