I'm pretty sure that is going to depend on the codec(s) used...
so ya know, in general, the "less tightly encoded" it is, the better
your chances are,
but then the files will tend to be huge so your storage subsystem
needs to be vast and quick!  =/

I'm guessing your current front-end is electronic, and not the old
hand-crank style?  ;)
