This is a measurement using the technique -- whose accuracy has already been proven on other outer Solar System objects -- of measuring their thermal radiation, a technique not falsely biased by any assumptions about their albedos. (Also, the measurement for Quaoar agrees very well with the Hubble telescope's visual estimate.)
