In response to Bruce's estimate of temperature,  Heat (power) is at a premium I suggest that testing to see if there is a point of efficiency to be reached providing reasonable melting and conserving power is in order.  Maintaining the overall probe at a few degrees above the freezing point of the ice it is in would be sufficient. Hotter water will provide faster melting but I think the jetting of the warm water from Ice Pick will also serve to increase the melting efficiency because of the motion of the jetted material. Stirring your ice tea melts the ice faster than if it is not stirred.

That's one conclusion reached with absolute certainty by the Cryobot design teams already -- using active hot water jets vastly increases the efficiency with which it melts through the ice, and in fact is now considered an absolutely necessary feature (quite apart from their ability to wash away the non-ice sediment that otherwise builds up in front of the Cryobot's nose).
