A number of people are suggesting that I should consider NiCd
batteries for my project, and I'd like some more information.
In the US, is there a company that buys the used nicads from you?
If so, how much do you get for them?
Or do you have to pay somebody to take them away? If so, how
much does it cost?
What if you didn't buy the NiCds from SAFT?
Does SAFT accept any old NiCds for recycling, or only their own brand?
I asked in nz.soc.green about NiCd recycling operations, and this
is the response I got:
Quoting Alan Liefting in nz.soc.green:
~ Last I checked (a few years back now) an Auckland company was sending
~ them to France for a cost of $5 per kilo. [approx US$1.14 per lb - LW]
~ It is hard work with our
~ small amounts of hazardous waste and poor enviro legislation.
Given that information, and bearing in mind that I am not in
Auckland and that the company may or may not still exist, do
people still think I should consider NiCd?
