Tony,
I converted a S10 pickup back in 1995 and thought it was relatively easy. There are numerous parts available for these as well. One of the biggest advantages for me was throwing the batteries in the bed with minimal restraint so I could drive it (this was a big boost in interest for the project and gives you the EV fever). You can then take the next step and put in a nice battery rack under the bed like Mark did, http://www.qsl.net/k5lxp/ev/primer/primer.html The biggest pain in the neck of converting a vehicle in my opinion is creating battery racks and getting them all stuffed into the vehicle. I spent many years trying to do this on a Fiero conversion, but never finished. The car was operational and I drove it short distances, but not really acceptable for longer commutes in heavy traffic. I finally sold that car to a single guy that has lots of time to mess with his project. I ended up buying a Dodge TEVan that was a factory conversion from Mike Chancey. There are a few TEVan's floating around that could be used as a glider. These are nice because the battery rack engineering is already done!. P.S. If you do go for an S10 let me know, I have a new adaptor plate and motor coupling. Rod hower.iwarp.com/photo.html Hi all, Its me, the new guy again. I was wondering if there are any comparisons on potential conversion cars. I searched the archives and found a reference to EV America's Donor Car Comparison, or something like that. Is that the only thing out there? I've emailed EVAmerica to see if i can get some of their technical papers. When selecting a car to convert, I'd just like to have something that talks about how easy it would be, suspension issues, room for batteries, etc. By the way, anyone have any thoughts on converting a 1979 Fiat Spider? I know of one pretty cheap - good body, bad engine. Thanks, Tony ===== Tony Perez Sacramento, CA __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
