One of the lost-in-the-dust stories of the EV-1, that might appeal more to Mr.
Moore than other aspects of the story, was the way in which the company sort of
slid the factory over to production of another vehicle.

I don't remember the exact dates, so as to make a timeline, but a few points
were as follows:

I think part of CARB's requirements were that manufacturers be able to
demonstrate that they could shift to mass production if required.  That is, mass
production was never required, but a demonstration of being close to it was.

I think GM shifted production of the EV-1 plant over to some other vehicle well
before (months?  a year or two?) they officially allowed that the program was
over.  That is, news of the switch was accompanied (my recollection anyway) not
by any admission that the program would not be continued, even though it was
obvious that switching back would be costly.

Well, I can't really spell this out effectively without some solid timeline and
quotes, but it irks me once in awhile to contrast when they would make official
announcements versus when they actually made decisions.
