Hi EVers I've been reading a little about Switched Reluctance motors and I was wondering if anyone is using one in an EV? Does anyone know of a manufacturer for EV sized SR motors?
It seems to me that they would be useful as they are quite efficient and the controller (drive) for them is about as complex as a Brushless DC motor.. (or am I misunderstanding the complexity). But the motor is much simpler and you have no magnets to worry about overheating etc.. The only drawback I can see is that they can make a bit of noise..
