Hey Winfield
I have a couple solar pontoon boat creations/conversions and so far with
using just AGM I've had good success. Range isn't that great but usually
isn't required as these craft are usually lake/harbor bound not open ocean.
Someday I may change out to Lithium to increase range/reduce weight but
where I can get UPS batteries for next free it's a hard sell.

FYI if anyone is looking into doing there own conversions and learning more
about marine electrical systems I would strongly recommend the American
Boating and Yachting Council (ABYC) courses. I had the fantastic
opportunity to take a course taught by Ed Sherman, who is also the writer
of the "The 12-Volt Bible for Boats" . Electrical standards for boats are
a little bit different than street vehicle and I found the course to be
very informative. Overalll I found the ABYC program was written for safety
sake, not for strict policy enforcement but my government (Canada) and US
follow the standard.

Thanks,
Dan Baker
